1’s and 2’s is SABC1’s flagship DJ competition series, running for six seasons on the channel. A nationwide search identifies 12 hopeful DJs who enter an exhilarating competition of skill, creativity and performance, all fighting for one title: South Africa’s Master of Spin. Rooted in the country’s dynamic music culture, the series has provided a national platform for emerging DJ talent and celebrates the artistry behind the decks.
Youth adventure
Galactic Z is a history edutainment adventure for children about two young South Africans who build a time machine and journey into the past to help solve challenges in the present. Through their adventures, they encounter South African and African indigenous history, knowledge and culture, turning the continent’s past into an exciting world of discovery. Blending history, science fiction and adventure, Galactic Z makes African history engaging, relevant and fun for young audiences.
Docu-series
Go Viral is a vibrant docu-series that goes beyond the screen to meet the South African content creators whose videos, stories and personalities have captured the online world. With the featured creators commanding a combined following of more than 39 million, the series explores the people behind the viral moments—what they create, why audiences connect with them, and how a new generation of digital creators is shaping South African popular culture.
Youth edutainment
With 12 seasons and more than 1,000 episodes, TOMZ is a long-running SABC1 and SABC Education youth science and technology series that makes STEM exciting, accessible and entertaining. Through experiments, inventions, challenges and real-world applications, the series encourages young South Africans to become curious about how things work and to see themselves as scientists, engineers, makers and innovators.
Mini-series
The Kingdom is a six-part limited series that reimagines Christian parables in contemporary South Africa. At its centre is Joseph, an angel who enters the lives of people within a community and helps them navigate interpersonal challenges through stories of faith, hope, love and resilience. Winner of the SAFTA for Best Youth Programme and selected for multiple film festivals, The Kingdom has been broadcast or licensed across SABC, Netflix, eTV and MTV, with the series also set to reach audiences through MTN’s new streaming platform.
Short film
Lalela is a festival short film about a young woman whose life changes when she loses her hearing in a car accident. Consumed by anger and blame toward her father, she must confront her own pain before discovering that forgiveness begins with herself. In learning to forgive herself, she begins to repair the fractured relationship with her father. Lalela is an intimate story of loss, forgiveness, healing and the possibility of reconnection.
Docu-series
Deep Tech is a premium documentary series exploring the extraordinary South African scientists, engineers, technologists and innovators tackling some of the world’s most important challenges. Moving beyond the familiar narratives of South Africa, the series reveals a country where sophisticated research, invention and technological ingenuity are already helping to shape the future. Cinematic, intelligent and globally ambitious, Deep Tech positions South Africa not at the edge of the world’s innovation story, but firmly within it, as a place where world-changing ideas are being imagined, engineered and built.
Children's series
Follow Me is a vibrant children’s documentary series that steps into the real lives of 26 remarkable South African children. Each story follows a different child through their world: school, family, friendships and the passions they are developing, from science and academics to horse riding, cooking, dance, photography and more. Colourful, energetic and proudly South African, the series celebrates childhood in all its diversity and reminds young viewers that there are many different ways to learn, grow, dream and shine.

The Girl With Wings — Nunu Ruh is a scalable story universe with 52 mapped adventures, each built on an African proverb, scaling from picture books into animation, interactive colouring and touring theatre.

After accidentally knocking over the morning porridge and her brother’s ice cream, a frustrated Nunu Ruh throws a tantrum, making the mess all about her. With the gentle wisdom of a talking sunflower named Sanna, she learns that being an angel isn’t about looking like one — it’s about the kind things we do for others. When she takes responsibility, returns to the kitchen and helps clean up, her invisible wings shimmer into view and she takes flight for the very first time.

Realising that respecting and supporting our elders comes before our own desires, she rushes back to help. The moment she lends a hand her magnificent wings appear, launching her into the sky — where she gains a breathtaking new perspective and spots the hidden field of blossoms she had been looking for all along.

It has been raining for days, and the house has a mysterious leak. While hunting for the drip in the ceiling, Mom uncovers a forgotten treasure: an old family photo album. As Nunu Ruh flips through the pages, the rich history of her lineage comes alive. Guided by subtle, magical clues left by her ancestors within the photographs, she follows the trail to find the source of the leak and save the day. As she connects with her roots her wings appear, soaring her high into the air — a comforting reminder that those who came before us continue to guide, protect and shape our journeys.
